Counting Down

It's crazy to me how just over a month ago I was extremely upset about the idea of getting laid off.  Don't get me wrong, I'm still freaking out about having to find alternate insurance (especially since I have it on good authority that regular insurance company prices are about to sky rocket so we will be forced to be even more government dependent... because we all want that to happen...[but I'm not extremely educated on this, so I will save the ranting for blogs with that focus]), but now that it's sinking in more and more each day, and coworkers are increasingly getting deeper and deeper under my skin, and my butt keeps getting wider and wider... I've never been more ready to GET OUT!

I'd be stupid not to be a little concerned that my attempt at starting a business of my own will fail.  I mean, what a time in our nation's history to try THAT kind of venture... we are not exactly set up to support the little guy right now.

But I do have hope.  I hope that I can make this work... that people will give this still-learning little girl a chance... that in six months, I won't be back in a cubicle somewhere, feeling the life drain from my fingertips and the fat pack on my thighs.

A friend at work tells me just about every day how incredibly optimistic and inspiring I am... and it's amazing to me that I come across that way, when inside I am so unsure of everything. I'm still learning my craft, still learning how to be confident doing what I love, and still learning to trust that everything will work out--the way it's supposed to--for the better. Breathe.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant.  I know it's not epic... but it helps to get it out, you know?  I will leave y'all with some highlights from the past week's sessions. Happy Tuesday.

  1. OK, now that I'm calm...what camera are you shooting with? I got a Nikon 90D and I am still learning it. UGH, any tips?

  2. lol... it takes a LOT of practice. I'm still learning all the little quirks of mine. I have the Nikon D5000, originally bought just to have... not to use it to take portraits. LOL. But I like it. I do have one hint for you... don't use the live view when you're taking pictures. It takes too long to focus. It's ok to use the monitor to check your pic after you've taken it, but use the view finder. :) It took me a week to figure that one out. LOL. If you already got to that point, you're way ahead of me!

  3. I really like your logo, as well! And the first two pics are def my favorite, though the others are great too. You're doing some awesome work :)

  4. I'm sorry you're feeling angsty about the job and everything. I don't blame you - I've been in that position too many times before. On the upside, you're almost finished with that place. When I left my last job, I gave 6 wks notice. During that time, I felt a kind of freedom - like I didn't have to keep my thoughts to myself anymore. (Not that I was rude. Just more outspoken.)

Those pics are awesome. They make me want to grab the camera and go find something pretty to shoot. You're very talented. As trite as it sounds, I'm sure you'll do fine. Heck, I wish you were nearby. I need someone with your eye to take my daughter's senior pictures.

  5. a brave step forward can take you faraway, especially since you live in a country in which a true talent and passion can make your dreams come true. Do not waste that, we believe in you!

  6. You have so much talent! Best of luck during this exciting time of transition, and have fun exploring all your passions :D

  7. You're going to do a brilliant job! Change is scary, but sometimes change is all we need (especially when forced upon)! Just know we're all here for vent sessions!!!

Reminder - Guess that Character Blogfest is this Thursday and Friday! Look forward to describing your character!

  8. it's fun to hear about someone who takes that leap of faith and walks away from security. i also wonder if the annoying co-workers weren't perfectly placed into your day to motivate you out quicker. it's fun to hear about someone who takes a chance on themselves.
dezmond suggested i give you a read. glad he did:)
wishing you all the luck of the universe on your journey.
