Losing My MIND

I gave full time photography a shot, but it didn't quite work out as I'd hoped. I'm still working at it and getting clients, but as of last week, I have a part time job M-T-W. I'm not happy about being back at a desk (that's not mine at home with my own computer) for 8 hour days, but it's a necessary evil right now. Maybe one day photography (or writing!) will be enough to pay the bills.

I forgot how exhausting and mentally taxing office work is (especially when you're in training!!). I come home and all I want to do is sleep. Or cry. grrr.

I hope my mental exhaustion doesn't cause me to lose momentum on my WIP. I've found it's been easier this week to revise what I've already written than come up with new material, so I guess I'll consider that progress. Fingers crossed I don't get overwhelmed feeling like there's too much on my plate (the cleanliness of my house is already suffering... sorry house) and stop working on it completely (Note to self: DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN).

Now, I'm off to a photo session (Another note to self: Don't schedule sessions after work again...). I hope you all are having a fabulous week and that you don't lose your mind too. :)

  1. Don't day jobs suck--all the life out of you that is? I think so. Makes me work harder on this writing thing most of the time though. *Bright Side*

  3. Oh my goodness. I just looked at your pictures and I can't believe its NOT your full time job. Your pictures are amazingly beautiful and trust me, others HAVE to recognize that. I hope that it works out for you, because a talent like that should not be sitting in front of a desk doing office work.

  4. NiaRaie - YES THEY DO!!!

B.E. - Thanks! Yes, I think once I know what the heck I'm doing at work, I won't be so stressed and want to pull out all my hair!

Jade - OMG you're going to make me cry! thank you :) Yes, it's very hard for us creative types to be stuck at a desk....

  5. Well, some of us won't let you lose momentum on your WIP. I'm going to bug the crap out of you. I think vent sessions at Red Mango should keep you sane :)

You know I agree with Jade about your talent level. I really think that once the economy picks up (once not if!) people will be banging down your door.

    Hang in there, dear. Breathe.

  6. I hear you with life getting in the way. I'm sure your photog business will pick up. I know a great photographer in Utah who has got a ton of new business because of her photography blog. You should check out her style:
just google Erin Summerill. I suck at linkage.

  7. Oh I'm sorry, dear. It was so hard for me to keep up with my writing when I was working a day job. I came home mentally exhausted and didn't have any brain activity left to pour onto a page. Please don't let this happen to you!!! xoxo

  8. Working is a necessary evil for many of us. But just think, one day you might be working doing something you absolutely love. And the only way that's going to happen is if you finish Pippa! :)
