Fanged Friday

I ran across this little Vampire Diaries parody by The Hillywood Show and I'm still cracking up.  You definitely have to be a fan of The Vampire Diaries to get it--and I'm amazed how much Hillary looks like Katherine in it!!  If you haven't seen their parodies of the Twilight movies yet, you're missing out.  Happy weekend!

Authors on my "I Sure Hope I Get to Meet Them One Day" List

I've seen some bloggers with a list of authors they'd like to meet and they cross off the list as they meet them.  So I thought it would be fun to write my own list and also keep track of the ones I've had the honor to meet already.

Authors I've Met:
  • Elizabeth Gilbert
  • Ally Carter
  • Maggie Stiefvater
  • Tera Lynn Childs
  • Rachel Hawkins
  • Joy Preble
Authors I Want To Meet:
  • Suzanne Collins
  • Sarah Addison Allen
  • Stephanie Perkins
  • Scott Westerfeld
  • Kiersten White
  • Becca Fitzpatrick
  • Andrea Cremer
  • Beth Revis
  • Richelle Mead
  • Rick Riordan
  • Bree Despain
  • Sarah Rees Brenan
  • Carrie Ryan
  • Shannon Hale
  • Anna Godberson
  • Elana Johnson
  • Jennifer Shirk
  • Kimberly Derting
And of course I'd jump at the chance to meet JK Rowling (and probably Stephenie Meyer--I mean, why not?), but I consider this a near impossibility, so... not going on the list.

Obviously, as I keep reading this list will get longer, but so far, these are my front runners.

What about you?  Anyone high up on your I Sure Hope I Get to Meet Them One Day list?

Friday Five

1. I'm getting a little impatient for The Vampire Diaries to start back up again...

2. It's fascinating that the singer Pink has successfully gotten people to know her simply by the name of a color.  I'm thinking I'll go by Heliotrope from now on.

3. Anyone buy any good music lately? Maybe movie soundtracks?? I got an iTunes gc for my birthday and I need help picking out an album or two.

4. STILL thinking about Anna and the French Kiss.... :)

5. Switchfoot signed my shoes last year, right?  Most of my followers saw this picture when I ranted and raved about it the next day.

<--Mom

<--Me

Lately when I've been wearing them, people have been asking, "Who signed your shoes?!"  Sadly, not everyone knows the glory that is Switchfoot so I get some blank looks or assumptions that they are a local band.... well, this won't do.  Here is a little sampling of my all-time favorite band for your weekend.  It's a silly music video, but it features Jayma Mays from Glee, so that's fun! :)

Springtime, Photo Props, Winners, and Blog Hop Giveaways, OH MY!

Lots to cover in this here post!!  First... I can't believe it's spring already! This year is already flying by at warp speed--and the bluebonnets are blooming!!  Check out this little cutie I took pictures of today!

I was so excited to finally use one of my props I bought last year!  And he was only sitting on it for about 2 seconds, so I'm pretty proud of this one. haha.

Ok, I've been SO slow announcing the winners of my Birthday giveaway... and I'm SO sorry.  I am just having the hardest time deciding because all of your ideas sound fun.  But I've definitely decided to give someone a new banner, and someone a new button--so there will be two winners!! I'll try to have this figured out soon!!

And for those of you interested in snagging a SIGNED copy of Across the Universe by Beth Revis, head over to BOOKRUSHED because we are part of a super fun giveaway hop!  AND scroll down to a previous post to see about unfollowing/refollowing to correct our feed in your reader. We had some issues before, which have since been resolved, but it may require a correct unfollow/refollow from you if you were following us before the fix!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone--be safe!!

Have you ever noticed...

  • It seems to be trendy in books these days to describe a character with gray eyes.  I don't really think I've ever seen a person with gray eyes.  A cat, yes.  Person... don't think I have.
  • Last night I was working on my WIP and just knew I'd worked on the same part before, so I dug through my notes and found that part.  I hardly even remembered writing these specific changes several weeks before, and they were so much better than anything I was coming up with last night.  Isn't it crazy how game changing it is--the WHEN we write?  If I hadn't written those notes a couple weeks ago, what I would have done to it last night wouldn't have been nearly as cool.  So much depends on our mood, our location, our schedule... access to chocolate.
  • Doesn't it seem like the really neat parts of your story (the twisty parts that tie the WHOLE thing together in a really neat OMG THAT'S SO FREAKY sort of way) come together as you're writing it?  There are new little twists to my WIP that I didn't even see coming.  I almost think this is one of the greatest rewards to being a writer... it's definitely fuel to the motivation flame.

In Which I Apologize... a Lot

You know how it is... you run into a friend and it's: "Oh it's been so long! We've just been so busy!"  What is it exactly that we're so busy with?  Why do we let ourselves GET so busy?  And if we complain about it so much, what are we going to do about it?  Answer: I have no idea. Seriously, everything I'm doing in my life right now seems necessary... maybe the bigger issue is time management.

I'm not going to rattle off the long list of things I had going on this past week (it's long) that kept me from the blogging world (I'm sorry I haven't stopped by lately!  I'm slowly trying to check out my fav blogs and go back to see what I missed this past week), from critiquing (Kristi and Katie, I'M SO SORRY--I haven't forgotten I PROMISE!), from eating right (I'm so sorry, Body--please stop trying to pay me back now), and from writing (I'm sorry, Future Published Self, that your Present Self is SUCH A SLACKER).

Here's to a week of getting things accomplished!

Rachel Hawkins!! And the Birthday Bash is Over!

Well, yesterday was the last day to sign up for the Birthday Bash... and I wasn't too good about reminding everyone to enter, so I apologize.  I'm currently going through the entries and I'll have the "chosen one" announced later this week!

On Friday I got to meet Rachel Hawkins, author of Hex Hall and Demonglass!!

Yes, I know I'm pink.  Since the sun's been out, I've been outside as much as possible.  Plus it was hot in there.  Plus, I was meeting Rachel Hawkins.  I turn pink when someone just looks at me.

She read a chapter from her new book, told us a little about how she started writing full-time (she was a teacher, it was sucking her creative soul, her hubs was also a teacher with similar soul sucking going on, they both quit, he cashed in his retirement, gave it to her and said, WRITE!, he got another job, she wrote Hex Hall, got an agent after TWO WEEKS of querying, sold the book 6-ish months later, it was on the shelves a year and a half later), answered some questions (there WILL be a third Hex Hall, then a new series!), and signed our books!

As usual, the writing high is strong now, yet I've had zero time to work on anything but editing photos.  Today I'm MAKING time!!

Friday Five

1) Eisley's new album, The Valley, came out this week! FINALLY!!! Loving it so far!

2) I wrote just over 600 words last night, and I feel like I'm back in the game! The ideas are still flowing and I look forward to being able to get some serious writing done this weekend!

3) I don't understand why people have pet turtles.

4) THE MONKEES ARE GOING ON TOUR!!! They still don't have any Texas dates posted yet, but fingers crossed!! I've been in love with The Monkees (namely, Micky) since I was in jr. high when my mom introduced me to them. I've been fortunate enough to see them in concert twice (Micky, Davy, and Peter anyway--Mike is a bump), and I've seen Micky on a solo tour with his sister.  This is their first tour in 10 years (and let's face it... it's probably one of their last), so I'm really hoping they come at least within driving distance.

5)  Tonight is going to ROCK! I'm going to dinner and to an author signing to meet Rachel Hawkins, author of Hex Hall and the newly released sequel Demonglass (can't wait to read that)!  Joining me will be fellow bloggers Heather, Jen (and her sister Kim! :::waves:::), and Meredith!

AHHH!!!!

I so blasted indecisive!! So, in January I made a new logo for KRP right?  I was happy with it, until this weekend. Something snapped. And I almost disliked it with my whole heart. Handy KNEW this would happen too. Because he knows me all too well. I'm a fickle beast.

So yesterday I whipped up a new logo... and just completely redid my blog... again.  Check it out and let me know what you think!!

CLICK HERE :) It's so much more me than the drab gray, black, and yellow flowers, right?!

As always, a huge thank you to Kim Franklin for the HTML magic!

And if you haven't entered my Birthday Banner/Button Bash yet, get on it!  It ends this weekend!

AND I see that I'm getting dangerously close to 300 followers! And this makes me smile even more! What would you like to see me do to celebrate??  (I'm meeting Rachel Hawkins this Friday--any interest in a signed copy of Hex Hall or Demonglass??)
