Tradition!

This time of year when the weather starts cooling off and decorations start going up, I like to bring out the movies that set the mood. Here are some of my seasonal favorites.

Fall:

You've Got Mail
Meet Me in St. Louis
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Hocus Pocus
Casper

Christmas:

Meet Me in St. Louis (yes, again!)
White Christmas
Desk Set
Borrowed Hearts (I THINK this is a Hallmark movie)
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Hallmark)
Prancer
The Holiday
Little Women
While You Were Sleeping

Really, this list is probably the tip of the iceberg. I'm a sucker for holiday movies. I don't get the Hallmark channel, but every year my Mom records all the movies she thinks I'll like and we marathon them for weeks. What movies are must-sees for you this time of year? Anything I need to add to my list?

  1. Oh, Hocus Pocus is a must for Halloween. I don't break out the movies, but I try to catch certain ones on TV, if I can. It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle of 34th Street, Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus (a Hallmark movie) and it's sequel Meet the Santas... I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of this morning. Happy beginning of the holiday season!

  2. Love, Actually is kind of Christmassy too.
But I always watch...Elf, While You were Sleeping, The Holiday, and It's a Wonderful Life.

  3. Definitely Love Actually! Even with the sad stories. And The Holiday, of course. :)

My favorites are Love Actually, The Holiday, Fred Claus, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (the old claymation version)...okay, really, there are TOO MANY to name. We have an entire collection! Just consider me a fellow addict. ;)

  5. Definitely Hocus Pocus for the Fall season. :) You can't go wrong with Bette Midler as a witch. The ones that I really love watching around Christmas are Memoirs of a Geisha (since I saw it in theaters on Christmas Day when it came out), Beauty & the Beast: Enchanted Christmas (I know some think it's bad but I still love it), and How the Grinch Stole Christmas both movies (it's just tradition to watch both the animated and live action versions). :) Great list, Kristin!

  8. Not sure how I didn't see this post earlier, but my list has some similarities for sure. But I think I'd put "You've Got Mail" more under the winter/Christmas category. I'd also put Harry Potter #3 for fall, and I'd add "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (animated version) to winter. :)
